Shoulder Pain Treatment in Spartanburg, South Carolina

Traditional Ineffective Treatments

Injections:

Cortisone Injections-Short term pain relief for some individuals, long term increased degeneration of tissues with continued use

PRP/Stem Cell Injections- Often comes with a 5-figure price tag and not uncommon to fail at solving your problem

Surgical Options:

Rotator Cuff Repair- Outcomes and Need based on size of tear, age, and desired level of activity to return to. Still requires financial investment, time off of work, and 4-6 months of often painful rehab. MANY people can overcome their pain and dysfunction without this surgery. So a full-thickness tear still doesn’t mean surgery is a must.

Arthroscopic Debredment + Acromion resection- Understood to be no more beneficial than placebo/sham treatments.

Shoulder Replacement- Last option even according to surgeons. Often poor outcomes and range of motion significantly limited afterwards. May need revisions due to pain or hardware failure.

Medications:

Daily Anti-inflamitories- Prolonged use can cause GI bleeds and other negative side effects

Opioids- Highly addictive, effectiveness decreases overtime, often causes painful areas to become even more sensitive

The Shoulder girdle is a unique combination of joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Due it’s unique anatomy, it’s classified as the most mobile AND unstable joint. Unfortunately this often means it can be a source of stiffness, pain, and dysfunction during workouts or daily living.

  • Manual Therapy Techniques such as Spinal Manipulation (sometimes referred to as an adjustment), Dry Needling (thin needles with electric stimulation), Myofascial Decompression (cupping), and Soft Tissue Mobilization (massage, trigger point therapy) to decrease pain and allow a window of time for your body to move better and speed up recovery

  • Progressive Upperback and Shoulder Girdle Strength + Increasing Fitness so you can leave more resilient than before you got hurt.

  • Routines and Tools to dial in workouts and recovery to stay healthy for the longterm.

Don’t let your shoulder keep you out of the gym, off of the court/course, or feeling frustrated during friends/family time.
